Is PDFLantern really free?

Yes — every tool is free to use, with no daily limits and no watermarks added to your files. There's no account to create either. A small number of ads help cover the cost of running the site.

Is it safe to use for sensitive documents, like contracts or medical records?

Yes — every tool runs entirely in your browser. Your file is processed on your own device and is never uploaded anywhere, so nothing about it ever reaches our servers.

Do I need to create an account?

No — there's no sign-up, no login, and no email required for any tool on this site.

Is there a limit on file size or number of pages?

There's no artificial limit set by us. Since everything is processed on your own device, the practical limit is your device's own memory — very large files may simply run slower on an older computer or phone.

Does it work without an internet connection?

The page needs to load once, but after that most tools keep working without a live connection, since your files are processed locally rather than sent to a server.

What happens to my file after I close the tab?

Nothing is stored — once you close or refresh the page, the file is gone from your browser's memory. We never had a copy of it to begin with.

Which browsers and devices are supported?

Any modern browser — Chrome, Firefox, Edge, or Safari — on desktop or mobile.

Can I use PDFLantern on my phone?

Yes, every tool works on mobile browsers, though for tasks with a lot of fine positioning — like placing a signature or watermark precisely — a larger screen is more comfortable.
